Kit ‘Molecules 3’
Building Three-Dimensional Models of Aliphatic and Aromatic Molecular Structures
Number of working groups: 10
Use: Student activities on building aliphatic and aromatic compounds and representing atoms, chemical bonds, multiple bonds and three-dimensional molecular structures
With the Class Set Kits ‘Molecules 1+2’, students can build important chemical compounds as three-dimensional models. The class set combines five Box ‘Molecules 1’ and five Box ‘Molecules 2’, allowing ten working groups to work simultaneously.
The ball-and-stick models illustrate the positions of atomic nuclei and the bonds between atoms. The models are assembled by connecting the atom models with the supplied connectors. Flexible connectors also allow students to represent multiple bonds.
By combining the components of both kits, students can model a wide range of aliphatic and aromatic compounds in organic chemistry. The different atom types are colour-coded according to international conventions. Three detachable benzene ring models in each Box ‘Molecules 2’ extend the possibilities for representing aromatic structures.
The class set includes ten student guides with examples of molecular models as well as a teacher's guide. All materials are clearly organised in a hard plastic storage box with matching foam inserts.
