Demonstration kit Optics for the steel board
Demonstrating the Fundamentals of Optics on the Steel Board
School level: Secondary education
Use: Demonstration experiments in physics lessons, alternatively for students presenting individual experiments
The Demonstration kit Optics for the steel board provides materials for demonstration experiments covering fundamental topics in optics. Using an optical light source, condenser lens, colour filters and various optical components, a range of optical phenomena can be clearly demonstrated in the classroom.
The components are attached to a suitable steel board using magnets or magnetic foil. This allows experimental setups to be arranged on a vertical surface and presented clearly to the entire class.
The experimental materials are suitable for both teacher demonstrations and presentations by students. This allows practical experimental skills to be incorporated alongside the underlying physics concepts.
The optical light source provides three light paths and can be combined with different apertures and colour filters. The condenser lens influences the emerging light rays. Without the condenser lens in place, divergent light emerges from the three openings.
A 12 V power supply with a minimum output of 20 W is required to operate the optical light source. The plug-in power supply (Art. No. 55217) is recommended.
The students investigate the direction of propagation of light. What happens when the light is blocked out?
Further fade out to a narrow light beam.
Students investigate the casting of shadows on a cylindrical object.
The students observe the reflection of a narrow beam of light on a plane mirror.
Students investigate the law of reflection.
Observing the course of the light beam in the parallel shift of mirrors.
The students observe the reflection on the concave mirror.
Die Schüler*innen beobachten die Reflexion am Wölbspiegel.
Observe the path of the light beam (thin to dense).
Observe the course of the light beam (dense to thin).
The students observe the course of the rays on a plane-parallel plate.
The students investigate the total reflection in the prism.
The students investigate the refraction of light at the converging lens.
Observation of the conversion from divergent to parallel light.
Observing the behavior of light rays at the diverging lens.
Investigation of the beam path when combining first a collecting lens and then a scattering lens.
Investigation of radiation louse by a combination of first scattering and then converging lens.
Observing the functioning of an eye as well as the difference of myopia (with correction glasses).
The students observe the spectrum on the prism.
Investigation during the superposition of different monochromatic light beams.
Students examine the color of light after passing through two different filters.
