Students kit Electrochemistry

Investigating Electrochemical Processes and Electrical Voltages

Use: Student experiments on conductivity, electrolysis, electroplating, electrochemical cells and the electrochemical series in chemistry lessons

With the Students kit Electrochemistry, students investigate fundamental electrochemical processes through practical experiments. Chemical processes are linked to the generation and measurement of electrical voltages. A mini digital multimeter is used to measure the voltages produced.

The experiments initially focus on the electrical conductivity of liquids and the processes involved in electrolysis. In electroplating experiments, students can observe electrochemical deposition processes and gain a practical understanding of a technical application of electrochemistry.

Further experiments investigate electrochemical cells and the generation of electrical voltage between different electrodes. Using different metal and carbon electrodes, students can also investigate the electrochemical series experimentally.

A teacher's guide with detailed experiment instructions, illustrations of the experimental setups, guidance on conducting the experiments, explanations and general safety information supports classroom use. The materials are clearly organised in a sturdy storage tray with compartment insert and lid.
